10th Annual "Oxnard Independent Film Festival"

A little late in announcing this, but better late than never.

Oxnard Indepdent Film Festival (OIFF) is having their 10th annual event!!!

However, there's been a minor change:

"After ten years of screening independent films, the Oxnard Independent Film Festival has decided to go on a short hiatus.

We feel lucky to have had the support of many wonderful people over the years. We want to thank everyone who has worked with us, written kind words about us, and inspired us.

During this break, we will be re-organizing our group to come back even stronger than before.

In 2008, we will be presenting a series of special screenings to revisit some of the award winning films from past festivals. Please keep visiting our website for all the details.

Thank you."

15th Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival this weekend!

Summer isn't the only thing that's HEATIN' up in the nard this weekend. Kickin' the temperature up a notch, this upcoming weekend is the 15th Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival. For all you interested readers out there, the annual salsa festival is a two-day celebration on Salsa.

"Salsa the dance? Salsa the food?"

It's actually a celebration of both!

There will be dancing, latin jazz music, entertainment, food and drinks for sale, shopping vendors, and of course, Salsa, from mild to the most "spicynessess." There is also a charity fundraising event that's part of the entertainment program, Salsa with Our Local Stars Dance Contest & Charity Fundraiser. Also... it's FREE!!!

The event is from 11am-7pm, located in Plaza Park, 5th st. and B st. Oxnard, CA.

It's on!: let the bloggage begin!

When Leah Vea introduced me to Project: O, I felt inspired by the group's dedication to improving the city of Oxnard, CA. I lived in Oxnard for about 15 years and I never did anything in return for the community. Now that Project: O has opened my eyes, I realize that getting involved for the city is a very fulfilling experience because you get to create more opportunities for the people, while producing an atmosphere that everyone will be glad to be a part of.

Additionally, if you're one of those Oxnardians who feels that there's nothing to do locally, you’re in luck because we’ll give you something to do.

On behalf of Project: O, we hope you will find this blog useful. What to expect? Stay tuned for some 411 on events goin' down in Oxnard, as well as other things (coverage of these events through photo/video, historical lessons regarding the city, dining recommendations, news stories, et cetera).

If you are interested in joining our cause or if you need more information about Project: O, e-mail us at project.oxnard@gmail.com.

Peace.

Yours truly,
Darrell D.

p.s., the resemblance of our blog's background to the Nardcore symbol was totally coincidental. We're going to continue rockin' it because we're just cool like that n_n.
