United Way Day Of Caring 2008

Just now a good ol' buddy, Garon, sent out a Facebook note that expressed many ways we can benefit Ventura County! Here's what he had to say:
Hey you guys you may or may not know. But recently ive gotten involved with the Ventura County United Way organization. They are a great group that organize and fundraise for many volunteer groups in the area. Some of which include the american red cross ventura, aids project of ventura county, and many many others. they try to get our community involved and have many volunteer opportunities available. One of which is the DAY OF CARING which is a bunch of group projects around ventura county on september 25, 2008 and september 27, 2008. Projects can be done by anyone from all ages. so if you have younger siblings or parents that you want to go, by all means the more the merrier. Also there is a ton of things you can do to impact your community, like paint homeless shelters, sort food for those with none, getting involved with habitat for humanity, and much more. It would mean a lot for me to see a good turn out and i think a good thing for those who want to help people. i mean hey we can make a difference. it may be small at best, but every bit counts. make a difference for ventura county. its really amazing how kindness could infect the world.
anyways sign up or contact me ill put you in touch with the right people.
ill be sorting food on september 25 from 12-3 pm =) join me! what could it hurt to help someones life and get some volunteer hours and letters of rec for those college students. at any rate no matter what your motive just come out and help please!

I visited the link and found many activities that will take place on the 25th and 27th of September (that's a Thursday and a Saturday). I think that this is a great opportunity for us, as Garon explained.

"The Coast Is Clear!!!" (or will be...)

Here's an opportunity for ya'll to do something good for your community. It's an opportunity that also exercises a certain discipline, a discipline that is essential to organizing and teaches one to be responsible for oneself. It can be applied to your everyday lives and it can make things look nice, not to mention, it makes you look sexy professional. You can even start practicing this discipline by cleenin ur roomzzz!!1 (...heh, i shouldn't talk, mine's not too squeaky either...) To get to the point...

Heritage Square Summer Performances of 2008

It's still Summer folks! And I know how the economy's been transforming butterflies out of your wallets.

Money is a tight subject and the heatwave is trapping people in their air conditioned or shaded homes. Although these factors exist, we shouldn't allow that to prevent us from having fun and live entertainment!

This Summer, the city of Oxnard has produced a line up of music performances at Heritage Square to please its citizens with live shows and to share entertainment with its local audiences. Also... IT'S FREE!!! Although there are only 3 performances left, take this opportunity to meet up with friends, to catch a free show, to get outdoors, away from your myspace/facebook/wii etc.

Fill your Summer with a collection of memories of outgoing events!
